The first book i read by this author was “the nightingale” and it is one of my all time favorite books. Introduction when caroline recommended winter garden to our book club, she warned us that it was cold, but i didn’t grasp how truly she meant that until i started reading.

It took her up to 2 years to write the nightingale and firefly lane. Sure, the setting for the narrative shifts between washington state, russia, and alaska, plenty of snow everywhere. As my daughter said, mom, i don't think you would have liked kristin's other books, because they're light reading for housewives.

Dark and unsettling, this novel’s end arrives abruptly even as readers are still moving at a breakneck speed. The seamlessness of the two stories held me. Kristin hannah has a tremendous gift in her ability to weave voluminous historical details with relevant relationships in the present.

I feel like i’ve been saying this so often recently since i’ve read some of her books back to back, but i just love kristin hannah’s writing! One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; It explores the lives of adult sisters meredith and nina, and their mother, anya.

Happily, i found out that i own winter garden, and happily dove into this. Meredith and nina whitson are sisters with entirely opposite goals in life. Winter garden by kristin hannah this was my pick for my library book club last month.

My daughter recommended kristin hannah's book, winter garden, to me. Nina grew up to become a photojournalist and travels around the world. It takes a year for hannah to write a book.

In winter garden, she sets out pieces of a puzzle that grows in multiple dimensions with her characters and their individual and intersecting worlds. Her insightful understanding and portrayal of so many different types of people and their experiences absolutely astounds me. Does anyone truly know the true depth of the secrets that hide in the heart of every family?

As noted in my review of the great alone, i read winter garden during the same time, making both books my first experience with kristin hannah. I had high expectations for this book and was not disappointed. I still wonder why, of all fictions, i chose this one.
